M.FISHER arrives at 106 South Street in Manhattan's historic Seaport district as the first permanent home of designer and artist Matthew Fisher — a destination conceived for those who understand the profound relationship between material, space, and object. Offering works of genuine provenance and depth, M.FISHER represents something increasingly rare: a practice where geological history, ancient cultural reference, and uncompromising contemporary craft converge into objects that elevate the spaces they inhabit.

The gallery itself is an argument for atmosphere. A central rotunda, reminiscent of ancient Roman arrangements of space, anchors the gallery, while an ivy-lined internal courtyard, hand-applied silver leaf niches, and fumed French oak floors establish an environment of architectural authority. Warm walnut cabinetry and plein air oil paintings complete a setting that feels closer to a masterfully curated residence than a traditional showroom.

(Biography)

On view are over 120 works spanning candelabras, sculptural objects, lighting, and functional art — each piece shaped from rare and remnant stone sourced through Fisher's relationships with miners and quarries across 18 countries. A dedicated stone library presents more than 30 species that have passed through the studio, offering designers an invaluable material resource. Prototypes are displayed alongside the studio's most recent work, providing a window into Fisher's evolving design language — one rooted in ancient Mediterranean architecture and 19th and 20th century European decorative arts, translated through rigorous contemporary process. These are objects designed to be specified with intention and lived with over time, developing patina and presence within the interiors they come to define.

The studio collaborates closely with the design community on bespoke commissions — from monolithic stone planters to custom sculptural furniture — developed in direct dialogue with each project. At the heart of this practice is a singular conviction: that stone is not merely a surface material but a cultural and spatial medium with the capacity to define how we experience the rooms we inhabit. Fisher's work refuses the disposable, honoring instead the enduring — objects conceived to accumulate meaning, develop patina, and outlast the trends of their time. M.FISHER exists to expand that perception.
