Do you have care and maintenance instructions for your materials? Glass and crystal can be cleaned effectively by wiping them with a damp microfiber cloth or using a glass cleaner with no additives. Always apply the cleaner to the cloth, not directly on the fixture, to avoid overspray that could potentially damage surrounding finishes. For the best results, we recommend professional cleaning or refinishing of glass and crystal items. Leather is a luxurious and durable material, but it requires proper care to maintain its beauty.
Regularly dust leather items with a soft, dry cloth to remove surface dirt and prevent buildup. For deeper cleaning, use a leather cleaner or conditioner specifically designed for the type of leather (e.g., smooth, aniline, or distressed). Always test any cleaner on a hidden area first to ensure it won’t cause discoloration or damage. Avoid using harsh chemicals or water on leather, as these can cause drying, cracking, or staining. To protect leather, keep it away from direct sunlight and excessive heat, which can cause the material to fade or become brittle. If the leather gets wet, blot it gently with a dry cloth and allow it to air dry naturally. Regularly condition your leather to keep it supple and to maintain its appearance over time. For serious stains, damage, or if you need a deep clean, we recommend professional leather cleaning services.
When cleaning metal items, use a very soft, dry microfiber cloth and gently rub in the direction of the natural patina. Never use cleaners that contain alcohol, solvents, or any abrasive materials, as these can damage or tarnish the finish. Avoid using rough cloths or harsh chemicals, as they can scratch or dull the surface. For tarnished metals, we recommend professional cleaning or refinishing to restore their appearance.
Stone is categorized into two main types:
Siliceous stones (like granite) are durable and relatively easy to clean. Calcareous stones (such as marble, limestone, and onyx) are more porous and sensitive to acidic cleaners. As a natural material, stone surfaces can vary in color and texture, and they are often unsealed and not stain-resistant. Many everyday items, such as foods and drinks, contain acids that can etch or dull the stone surface. Always exercise caution when placing liquids or objects that could damage the surface. To clean stone, use a soft cloth with a few drops of stone soap or an uncolored, mild detergent diluted in warm water. Avoid using excessive soap or cleaner, as it may leave streaks or residue. After cleaning, rinse thoroughly and dry the surface with a soft microfiber cloth. In the event of a spill, blot it immediately with a soft cloth to prevent absorption, then clean with water and mild detergent. Rinse well and dry the area promptly. For stubborn stains or heavy soiling, we recommend seeking professional cleaning services from a stonemason or stone refinisher.
Do not use water or liquids on waxed cotton cord. Simply vacuum gently to remove any dust. Using water-based or solvent cleaners may cause discoloration or staining, so avoid these types of cleaning solutions. For stains or heavy soiling, we recommend professional cleaning services.
Wood items are typically stained and finished with a protective coating, such as a clear coat or wax. Although these finishes provide a layer of protection, wood is still susceptible to wear and tear over time. To care for your wood pieces, dust them regularly with a very soft microfiber cloth to prevent dust buildup. Avoid placing wood furniture near heaters or air conditioning units, as these can cause the wood to dry out or absorb excessive moisture, leading to warping or cracking. Additionally, do not expose the wood to extreme fluctuations in humidity, as this can negatively impact the material's integrity. To protect the wood surface, avoid placing hot or moist objects directly on the furniture. Rubber or plastic materials left in contact with the wood can also damage the finish. Steer clear of commercial, heavy-duty polishes or waxes, as they may cause yellowing, particularly on lighter finishes. For stained or soiled wood, we recommend professional cleaning or refinishing to restore its original luster.
