Vessel 13, Elegy Suspended Vessel
ObjectDetails
This piece draws its earliest inspiration from Imperial Roman bronze oil lamps, characterized by multiple spouts encircling a central refueling opening. As the design evolved, Matthew's study of open and closed link chains across cultures led to a deeper investigation into ancient weighing scales, which further shaped the form. Ultimately, coins from various civilizations inspired the detailing, and inscriptions found on the distinctive canopy.
