At the southern tip of Manhattan along the East River, artist Matthew Fisher has opened his anticipated first gallery. The space showcases his latest creations, a blend of functional art objects and furnishings made from stone, metal, and cotton cord. Off the cobblestone-laid streets, an entry is lined with walnut cases and topped with silver-painted triptychs. Copper panels clad numerous passageways leading to a central rotunda and salon beyond.
"The Seaport Gallery is conceived as a theatrical interpretation of the domestic interior, where the formality of antiquity seamlessly blends with the comforts of quiet luxury," says Fisher.
