Carved from a single piece of specimen stone the joined orbs support one another lofted above the plane on which they sit. Influenced by a ceramic vessel discovered in the wall built at the north-west frontier of the Roman empire following the emperor Hadrian’s visit to Britain in the year 122 AD. The work is a representation of the delicate balance of order maintained by the natural world. Three borosilicate glass inserts are provided with Vessel 3.
